Primitivo di Manduria

Description of the wine:
It is one of the most famous wines of Puglia, thanks to its adaptability to different types of dishes and also thanks to its liqueur versions, more alcoholic.

Organoleptic characteristics:
Primitivo di Manduria has an intense red color, tending to garnet with aging. It has a large and complex aroma. In the mouth it has a flavour that goes from dry to sweet, characteristic.

Historical-cultural infos and curiosities:
Over the centuries, the wine produced in Puglia was used primarily for blending, as it had a remarkable degree of alcohol. During the twentieth century, when for the first time, on a label, appears the name "Primitivo di Manduria", the production was focused only on quantity. In the seventies, with the achievement of the DOC, the orientation towards quality began.

Serving suggestions:
It goes well with important and tasty dishes, such as spicy or mature cheese, salami, red meats or first courses with meat sauces and soups.

Production area:
Province of Taranto and Brindisi.

Grape varieties allowed for its production:
Primitivo (minimum 85%). Grapes from non-aromatic black berry vineyards, suitable for cultivation in the provinces of Taranto and Brindisi, up to a maximum of 15% (alone or jointly), can contribute to the production.
